Act I

Act I in "A Dolls House", was full of suspense and dramatic irony. To start off in the beginning of the act, it seemed as if Nora and Torvalds relationship was normal, but Torvald  is completely unaware that his wife Nora was a bit of a liar, but just when you thought the only thing she lied about was the macaroons, more and more lies became to come up. Like when she told Mrs. Linde about how she raised money for the trip to Italy, to save her husbands life. All she did was borrow money and paid off her debts. What's so bad about that? Well Torvald does not like people who borrow money, he thinks it is wrong. Then more drama happens. We the readers find out that Nora borrowed money from Krogstad. Krogstad was not liked by the town nor Torvalds, because he forged Nora's father's signature. Also Krogstad has a disreputable reputation. The ironic thing about that situation is that Nora did the same thing. Furthermore Nora does not tell Torvald the truth about how she earned the money. How could she do that to poor Torvald? The man who is the foundation to there house hold, and who takes good care of everyone.

When Torvald confronted Nora about Krogstad paying a visit to the household, he tells her " Because an atmosphere off lies like that infects and poisons the whole life at home. In a house like that, every breath that the children take is filled with the germs of evil", this fluttered Nora's brain full of thoughts of how bad of a mother she is. Then Nora thought to herself " Corrupt my little children- poison my home? That's not true! It could never, never be true." Nora would shoo away her children, because she doesn't want to corrupt them. I personally think that the more Nora keeps this whole thing a secret, the worse the end result will become. When Torvald found out that Krogstad asked Nora to tell Torvald to put good word in for him to get the job position, but he does not know what will happen if Nora does not give him the job opportunity. That about wraps up Act I, and it leaves off with Nora getting her dress ready for her tarantella. I wonder what happens next!
